Pity City

Mariah Denz was a multi-faceted talent. A poet, prose writer, dancer and musician whose work is raw, spirited, and uncensored. She was a victim of sexual abuse which led her to drug use, most notably, an addiction to heroin which would lead to her death at 25 years old.Pity City was originally gifted to Mariah's then girlfriend, Sarah Donato, as a handwritten journal. A collection of poetry and prose, this work is the embodiment of a self-proclaimed "temper tantrum" of self-discovery, substance abuse, cinematic love, and the thrill and chase of escapism. This edition was created by Sarah Donato to honor Mariah's legacy and to achieve her lifelong dream of being a published author.
